Walton Students, Staff, and Volunteers Honored at WEF’s Celebration of Learning

The Wakefield Educational Foundation recently celebrated Walton School students, staff, and volunteers who exemplify the core values of their school and go above and beyond in their efforts and contributions to the Wakefield Public Schools. Principal Schmitt spoke proudly of fourth grade student honorees Franklin Butterworth, Liam Murphy, Madalyn Elizabeth Ryan, and Libby Trachtenberg.  Among the many accolades, Schmitt cited his observations of all four students’ “excellent manners”, their “extra effort to make their work the best it could be”, and appreciation from their peers who said they “made others laugh and helped them feel included.” Walton Science Teachers, Andrea Fouse and Kerry Tyrell, were heralded for their positivity and enthusiasm. Illustrating their enthusiasm, Principal Schmitt described Fouse and Tyrell as “trained improvisationalists [who] consistently responded with ‘Yes! And…’”, going above and beyond in all aspects. Volunteers Tyson Vasapoli and Tisha Voss were recognized for the dedicated work they put into the Walton playground painting project this past summer. Principal Schmitt highlighted that Vasapoli was not only a talented designer and digital strategist, but what stood out above all was his “selflessness and his contagious positive attitude.” Principal Schmitt noted Voss was not only a volunteer, but also a staff member who embodies the saying “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” WEF congratulates all of Walton’s awardees on their positive contributions toward educational excellence.
