Galvin Students, Staff, and Volunteer Honored at WEF’s Celebration of Learning
The Wakefield Educational Foundation (“WEF”) recently celebrated Galvin Middle School students, staff, and a volunteer who exemplify the core values of The Galvin, plus go above and beyond in their efforts and contributions to the Wakefield Public Schools.
Principal Webb began with the student honorees. “These 18 students,” she remarked, “were chosen because they don't just understand our I.C.A.R.E. values, they live them out in our hallways, in our cafeteria, and in their classrooms every single day.” Galvin student honorees for WEF’s 2026 Celebration of Learning include: Fifth graders - Stella Barr, Tommy Cooper, Kyle Dam, Madeline May Ferrari, Noah Hernandez, Domenic Torra; Sixth graders - Oliver Shimon Elmaliah, Quinn Griffin, Felicia Pirrello; Seventh graders - Lucienne Elizabeth Castillo, Norma Sofia Jolón Lara, Abby O’Brien; and Eighth graders - Juliette Mae Anquetil, Colin Briggs, Norah Pritchard.
Next Webb celebrated staff honorees, Becky Foy, Chris Gorski, and Jeffrey H. West , “who are truly the epitome of dedication in our profession.” She noted, “Not only are they science teachers, but they are also the leaders of our Science Olympiad team.”
Volunteer Barb LaSpina was recognized for her “dedication and financial expertise” in her work as treasurer on the Galvin PTO. LaSpina is also credited with launching the Galvin Grows fundraiser in 2022, “which continues to flourish,” concluded Webb. WEF congratulates all of the Galvin honorees and their lasting contributions to educational excellence.
The Wakefield Educational Foundation’s mission is to support the good work of individuals and groups who continue to make Wakefield a great place to learn and live. To support its grant process, WEF receives generous funding from key local business partners, private donors, and a series of annual fundraisers, including WEF’s Wakefield Public Schools Calendar showcasing student art; the S.T.A.R.S. program recognizing exemplary WPS staff; the Online Auction and the Adult Spelling Bee. WEF has awarded over $770,000 across the Wakefield Public Schools since 1989. Learn more by following WEF on Twitter or Facebook, or go to WEF01880.org.
